In my performance, music and visual blend harmoniously togheter to create new evocative worlds. Through a thoughtful research on dramatic sonic movements, the songs wanders between several musical languages, creating unexpected hybridizations. This vast emotional gradient finds fulfillment in the live set, where the rhythmic dimension intersects with nice-melancholic melodies. My music is highly influenced by all the 90’s idm electronic british music: Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Boards Of Canada, etc. I’m also attracted to the rave scene, the Roman one in particular, quite peculiar in its aesthetic.
I use TidalCycles for music and Hydra for visual on two different laptops.
Nabìr is the solo project of Rome-based audio + visual artist Lorenzo Berretti. Nabìr employs live coding on TidalCycles and SuperCollider with handmade cassette tape loops to create imaginative soundscapes and nostalgic atmospheres. Both the music and the visuals are conceived as a warm and welcoming hug, a flood of memories that passes through the lenses of digital and computer manipulation. A merging of the old and the new, where the boundaries between these dimensions are blurred through the recontextualisation of live coding, cassettes, vhs, sampling, field recording, and looping. These compositions blur the genres of IDM, ambient, drone, and electronic music.
